Liverpool, England recently played host to the British Beard and Moustache Championships 2016, where hundreds of Britain's finest furry faces competed to be crowned the very best of the best against their fellow British bearded peers.
Categories such as best Handlebar, Amish/Whaler, Musketeer and freestyle were just a few that were in the competition. This years event marked the fourth year in a row since the event first began back in September 2012. Each year the championship continues to draw in bigger crowds as the popularity of beards and their admirers continues to grow (See what I did there? #CheapPun) with some truly magnificent beards on display for everyone to oogle upon.
Beard care aids such as wax, oils, balms and combs are also permitted, and judging on some of these awesome pointed tashes I spy before me I think we can safely assume these gents took full advantage of some good quality product by the truckload! Categories also covered great sideburns and Chops, where the facial hair is grown to a certain length and only on the cheeks and upper lip, with the chin area shaved, which may also include the moustache.
My personal favourite category of the entire event always remains a popular topic each year, The Full Beard competition, which includes short styles such as the 'Verdi', the freestyle full beard, where the grower can be a creative as he so chooses with his full marvelous beard. There's even a category for the best 'fake' beard section, which features the best face wig false beards you'll probably have ever seen in your life, usually sported by rather attractive and usually less hairy females too. So if hairy ladies tickle your fancy then this could be just the gig for you!
Feast your eyes on a small collection of my favourite beards from this years British Beard and Moustache Championships 2016...
Did any catch your attention? Every time I spy these kind of events I find myself mesmerised by the beholders creativity when it comes to using a little extra beard wax. I can only imagine how long some of them must have taken to create! As always let us know your thoughts in the comments section provided below.
