Who is The Beard Struggle?

I started The Beard Struggle in Vancouver in 2015 making beard balm and beard oil by hand. Eleven years later we still make our product by hand in small batches, in Vancouver for North America and in London for the UK and Europe. Each market has its own store and ships from close to home: US orders ship from Dallas, Texas, Canadian orders from Vancouver, UK orders from London, and European orders from Köln.

The brand is built around Norse identity. Our community, the Brand Vikings, is free to join and earns loyalty points on purchases. Strongman champions Hafthor Bjornsson and Eddie Hall and actor Thor Rosland each have their own signature line with us: The Mountain, BEAST and Thunderborn.

What do customers say?

The praise that comes up again and again on Trustpilot and on our product pages: the range of scents, how long the scent lasts, how soft the beard feels, fast shipping and helpful support. A few in their own words:

  • "The quality of this beard oil is exceptional, and great value for money as few drops is all that's needed." Al S., Day Liquid Tonic
  • "I've had beard straighteners before, they all ran way too hot... This is by far the best on the market." Liam K., Carbon X Pro
  • "The battery lasts a long time... I went on a trip and forgot my charger, and the battery lasted for three days without issue." Mike M., Carbon X Pro

And the complaints, because you should see those too. The most common: a favourite scent is not offered in every product type, and some bottles are hard to open. One Carbon X Pro owner who gave it 10 out of 10 still called cleaning the bristles "a fiddly one." About 4% of Trustpilot reviews are 1-star, and we answer them publicly there.

Is The Beard Struggle worth the money?

US prices start at $20 for Day Liquid Tonic beard oil, $23 for Warrior's Beard Balm and $24 for Radiance Beard Wash. A few drops of oil a day is enough for most beards, so a bottle lasts. The Carbon X Pro heated straightener is $119.99.

That is more than a drugstore oil and in line with other small-batch beard brands. Whether it is worth it comes down to two things you can test: does the scent last on your beard, and does your beard feel softer after a week. If not, the 90-day guarantee covers you.

Is The Beard Struggle a Canadian company?

Yes. The Beard Struggle was founded in Vancouver, British Columbia, and that is still home. US customers buy from The Beard Struggle Inc., our US company, and orders ship from Dallas. UK and EU customers buy from our UK and German companies and orders ship from London and Köln.

Where are The Beard Struggle products made?

Oils, balms and the rest of the range for the US and Canada are made by hand in Vancouver, BC. Product for the UK and Europe is made by hand in London, UK. Electronics such as the Carbon X Pro and apparel are made by specialist manufacturers.

Some reviews online date back to 2020 or earlier. A few facts have moved since then:

  • We were founded in 2015, not 2013 or 2014 as some older pages say.
  • The heated brush is now the Carbon X Pro: it heats up in about 60 seconds, comes with two swappable 30-minute batteries, runs while plugged in, and carries a 1-year warranty.
  • We now run four stores with local shipping in the US, Canada, the UK and the EU.
  • Every order is covered by a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Does The Beard Struggle pay for reviews?

No. We don't buy reviews or write them, and nobody at The Beard Struggle asks customers to post about other brands. Reviews on Trustpilot are open to anyone, and you can read every one of them, good and bad.
