Santa Claus is readying up Rudolph and his trusty reindeers whilst filling up his sleigh, which can only mean one thing. Christmas is soon to be merrily on its way! Whilst the festive holidays are a rather jolly time for the majority (expensive, yet jolly!), truth be told it can play absolute havoc when it comes to our beards! Now, whilst it would be rather splendid to simply hibernate away over the freezingly cold winter months like a squirrel, unfortunately we all have a little thing called ''a life'' to lead. So, like it or not we have to face the harsh freezing cold elements. But what can be done to ready up your marvelous 'man-mane' ready for winter? Here are a few tips to make your beard winter ready...
HOT SHOWERS PLAY HAVOC WITH BEARDS!
I appreciate that many of us love jumping out of our nice warm beds and right into a nice hot shower on those frosty early mornings. But try to avoid having the water set too hot, as the heat causes nothing but mischief when it comes to our facial forests. This happens when the hot water strips both your skin and beard of its natural oils that work as a form of moisturiser. When facing low humidity levels the harsh elements will soon dry out your beards hair, causing it to become very brittle and weak to the touch. So, for best results keep your showers as cool as possible.
MAKE SURE YOU COMB THAT WINTER BEARD, BROTHER!
It can be easy to forget to brush through your beard when having a busy day at the office. But keeping your furry chops combed not only keeps you looking a million dollars, but helps keep your beard clean, tidy and in top condition. Combing also helps even out any product you might be using throughout your beard which will prove highly beneficial, especially in the colder months of the year.
USING A SCARF ISN'T FOR EVERYBODY, BUT DOES HELP!
I appreciate not everyone likes the look that sporting a scarf grants. But keeping those 'beard-cicles' at bay can be achieved by covering up your beard whilst outdoors in the freezing cold using either a scarf or face mask. beard icicles are real and can form fairly easily when the temperature drops below freezing. And when these begin to form they can cause further damage to your facial hair, making it highly prone to breakage and brittleness. So keeping well wrapped up isn't such a bad idea after all.
KEEP THE BEARD OIL LEVELS TOPPED UP NICELY!
Although your beard will benefit from a good balance of premium beard oils in the cold winter months, this bit of advice works all year round. Keeping your beard well hydrated will further promote longevity of your beard and encourage it's over all growth rate and well being. Oils work as a form of barrier when it comes to facing both rain and shine, delivering the correct balance of essential ingredients to repair any split ends and dryness.
