4 THINGS THAT ALL BEARDED GENTS CAN RELATE WITH

by Fran O'Reilly January 25, 2017

Here at 'The Beard Struggle' we rather love our beards, and truth be told we rather love yours as well. We understand that yes, bearded fellows do in fact have 'bad beard days' every now and again. We also understand the strong bond shared between 'Man and Beard'. Today, I wanted to take a lighthearted approach as we discuss 4 Things That All Bearded Gents Can Relate With...

WHAT STARTED AS STUBBLE HAS BECOME SOMETHING MUCH MORE!

So, what might have begun as a 'lazy weekend' has now flourished into a rather decent bit of facial gruff. Beards have to start somewhere and more often than not they begin as nothing more than a bit of fun or after taking part in 'No Shave November'. Then the beholder becomes a rather attached as things begin to take shape. Then before you know it you're a few years down the line and a proud owner of a marvelous beard that any wizard would be proud of. The bond between a man and his beard is truly like no other. We become attached (pun totally intended!) to our facial hair rather quickly and rightfully so! Beards add a certain edge to our character and can prove to be a real confidence booster as well. I've had my beard for just shy or three years now and my wild ginger whiskers have become a huge part of my image. I'd not do without my face forest now, that's for sure.

YOU STRUGGLE TO REMEMBER THE PERSON YOU WAS BEFORE THE BEARD!

Looking back on old photos of me I hardly recognize the person I was before the beard. Me and my wife recently looked back on our wedding photos and both agreed I look like a different guy without the beard. And in my opinion not in a good way. When you've had you beard for sometime it can seem a lifetime ago since you were without it, which in turn can prove a little tricky to remember how you once looked before the beard began to grow. And would you be without your beard now? Of course not.

WHEN TUCKING INTO SOME MUCH NEEDED LUNCH, YOU OFTEN END UP WEARING IT!

So, picture the scene. It's valentine's evening and you take your good lady out for a romantic meal. You sit down to order, but what to choose? When it comes to having a beard you have to evaluate what you do decide upon, because if you choose something a little messy you're likely to end up wearing more than you eat. It just takes a little extra time and consideration in order to not need a bib when eating. But no matter how careful we are, sometimes it's just inevitable.

THE VERY THOUGHT OF SHAVING OFF YOUR BEARD GIVES YOU NIGHTMARES!

Shaving dear? Me dear? No Dear! The thought alone of shaving my beard is enough to have me running for the hills in sheer horror. Because as every beardsman would agree having to axe away at one's facial forest is simply unthinkable. Heck, a light trim gets my knees trembling for all the wrong reasons! But what causes the old nerves to set in? Is it the fear of all that hard work and dedication coming to a bitter end by shaving? Or is it because if something was to go wrong you would resemble a twelve year old school boy? Whatever it may be, I'm standing firm as I say no to shaving now and forever more.

That's another beard blog completed for today my friends. As always we'd love to read your thoughts, comments and any feedback you may have in the comments section you'll find kindly provided below.

And until next time, Beard on Brothers, Beard on...
